FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About Solar

How Do Solar Panels Work?

Solar panels capture the sun's energy and convert it into electric power for you to use. When they capture more power than you use, they feed it back into the grid and power others that don't have solar installed.

What if I Sell My Home?

After having solar installed, your home's value increases dollar for dollar. Selling it should be easier than ever. If you have financing on your solar, you can either pay it off, or we can help you transfer the payments to the new owner

How do I get my tax rebate?

You should be able to apply for a tax credit when you file your normal annual taxes. We recommend consulting with a tax professional if you have any concerns.

What Happens on Cloudy Days?

All of our solar installations are grid-tied. That means that you are always connected to your local utility company so you always have access to power, as well as the ability to put power back on the grid. This means when the sun isn't out, you will still have power. When the clouds go away, your solar system will automatically begin working again.

Do I Need to Clean my Panels?

Solar panels do lose some effectiveness when they are dirty. If they're covered in leaves or other debris, we strongly recommend clearing them. If they just have bit of dust or dirt on them, you don't need to worry. You may want to hit them with a hose from time to time, but you don't need to make any special effort.

Can You Offer Other Energy-Saving Options?

Yes! We can offer everything from new water heaters to new insulation in your home, to new window installations. Let us know what you're looking for and we can find the right solution for you.

How Will Solar Panels Look?

Honestly, they look great! Modern panels have a low-profile design and premium trim that integrate with your roof elegantly.

How Long Does Installation Take?

We can usually have someone at your home in as little as two weeks. And installation normally takes less than one day.

Do Your Work with Power Wall?

Yes! We recently signed an agreement with Tesla and are proud to be able to install the Power Wall.

How much do Solar Panels Cost?

Solar panel costs have fallen significantly in the last 5 years and now installing solar panels can be one of the best investments you can make for your home. There are also now a lot of products on the market utilizing sophisticated financing vehicles to make solar panels for your home affordable.

How Long do Solar Panels Last?

A well designed, installed, and maintained solar system will last as long as 30 years. Many newly designed panels can even last longer (though their efficiency does diminish some over time.) Your panels can easily pay for themselves several times over their lifespan.

How Many Panels do I Need?

Every home is different and uses power differently. Depending on the size of your home and how efficient your insulation and large appliances are, it can change significantly. We can assess how many panels you will need to fully power your home based on your average monthly bill.
